Plot: A New York City cop gets trapped in a Los Angeles high-rise occupied by terrorists on Christmas Eve.
The greatest action movie of all time and i have no shame to say it.Flixster - Share Movies
Die Hard defined the action genre in 1988.It´s great fast packing action and adrenaline masterpiece that grabs you from the first to the final minute.20 years later,it still kicks butt and is a lot better than those CGI craps of today.Bruce Willis is absolutely amazing. His role as the reluctant but tough NY cop John McClane turned to the greatest leading man of Hollywood. He ´s not like Sly or Arnold. He´s a normal guy that smokes, suffers and make us laugh but at time we cheer for him to kill the bad guys and to save his wife.Another great thing about this movie is Alan Rickman. He was brilliant as Hans Gruber and creates a kind of villain that no one can match(except Heath Ledger´s Joker and Darth Vader).I love this movie and that´s what i call a action movie with personality.
Forget Bourne or the Bond movies.Die Hard is the shit and a unforgettable action masterpiece.Yippee Ki Yay,Motherfucker!!!
BEST action movie in the history of FOREVER! I know its way before i was even born but OH MY GOD this movie kicks ass
great movie bruce willlis makes me think like am there i have all of these and watch them over some times
An awesome rollercoaser of an action movie with compelling characters and ultra-violent gun battles that leave you on the edge of your seat wanting more.
Wow Alan Rickman is so the best villain I have seen in a long long time! Add that to Bruce Willis and you have one of the best action movies ever!
Quite possibly the best Christmas (action) movie ever made. Most likely due to Bruce Willis playing *gasp* a flawed hero. He curses, he misses, he runs out of ammo, and he somehow gets hurt when getting shot or running through glass barefoot. Enough with the one man invulnerable army movies, this movie actually makes you like the good guy... but then again, that's why Die Hard was so popular. For once in an action film, you were able to relate to the hero...
But on top of that, the movie offers some of the most memorable dialogue, great situations, awesome supporting characters, and well... I love it.
One of my favorite movies by far.
Well, this was freaking amazing. Some parts didn't have to be in there, though. They could have made it PG-13 with the famous line, but just cut out all the unnessecary crap.
gw suka semua sekuel Die Hard...Bruce willis tampak susah sekali mati emg disini,,bnyk darah,,lucu jg,,dan,,yaaa i just luv it..mantaph dah..
My favorite action movie
My favorite action movie of all-time.......Yippee ki yay mother fucker
Die Hard is a great action movie created a franchise that is still very much alive almost 20 years. Our story for Die Hard is about a New York City cop gets trapped in a Los Angeles high-rise occupied by terrorists on Christmas Eve. For the cast for the movie Die hard there
is a great cast and it is an interesting cast. Die Hard stars Bruce Willis and he has to be one of the best actors of the 1980s and also it stars Alan Rickman and he plays the role of Hans Gruber and Alan Rickman gives out great performance. There was a lot of action hero movie to of come out in the 1980s like Rambo. Die Hard has lots of drama, good ideas, humor, violence and cool action scenes that could, to a certain extent, be considered realistic. Its never boring. this film has to be the greatest action hero movie ever to of come out in the 1980s. Die Hard has to be Bruce Willis greatest ever film performance.
intense, entertaining action flick with great special effects and a twisted sense of humour. awesome as this movie is, I can't help but find virtually every character ridiculously inept. I wanted to gut-punch every cop, FBI agent, and media personality, and I found the group of models and hair metal musicians (aka the terrorists) to be poorly prepared and way too easily beaten. John "Urban Rambo" McClane might be a badass, but when you're up against hundreds of seething morons, it lessens the effect. Rickman portrayed a great lead villain, though, and props to him for doing his own stunts. overall a solid, groundbreaking trendsetter of a film, just try not to think too much about it.
My second favourite movie of all time.
The plot involves New York cop John McClane flying out to Los Angeles to attend the swanky party of his separated wife Holly's company on an upper floor of their high-rise corporate building. However, the company didn't intend to have party crashers, particularly gun-toting German terrorists who want to rob the big boss blind while holding the employees hostage. The terrorists are led by international mastermind Hans Gruber, who makes one major blunder in not taking into account that there would be one guest who manages to get away unseen, McClane, who does his duty as a good cop by doing everything possible to foil their plans. Using his street smarts and physical prowess, McClane throws a monkey wrench in Gruber's works, but these terrorists are ruthless, cunning, and deadly. Not to mention, they also have McClane's wife.
Die Hard isn't what one would call a thinking-man's thriller, but it is a case where the formula is done right for popcorn movie fare. With plenty of action, incredible stunts, pithy lines, and good performances to anchor it, John McTiernan sets the table for over two hours of action movie-lover's bliss, as things blow up, and we actually care about what happens in the end.
Many people questioned seeing Bruce Willis, formerly known as just a light comedic actor, as an action hero. Willis proves us wrong by first establishing that there is nothing remarkable about McClane at all -- he's just a normal New York City cop who is out of his element in a new environment and pretty much unsettled about everything in his life. He has normal problems, normal feelings. Bruce Willis isn't Rambo or John Wayne, and even rejects the notion when presented in q poignant question by Hans himself. Although Beverly Hills Cop would come before with a similar premise of a street-smart, blue collar cop transplanted to California who wisecracks, Die Hard proved that the sky was the limit as far as what normal guys can do, and it does it with style, verve and wit.
The action does falter a bit toward the end when McTiernan reveals he's making a popcorn movie after all, as he opts for a few clichés and moments of crowd-pleasing formula antics, letting the supporting characters have a role in clobbering a bad guy or two. By the time these moments occur, we're willing to overlook them after being sated by watching two hours of action well done. It's hard to gripe at a film that delivers everything you could want in an action picture, then gives you even more.
i absaloutly loved the action and how John and Al met in the first place. Like when he went to get his twinkies and when John dresses up Karls brother and wrote on his jumper "now i have ma machiene gun ho ho ho".
"John McClane," a New York City police officer, has finally got some time off, and goes to California to spend Christmas with his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) and their two kids (Taylor Fry and Noah Land). He is taken from the airport to his wife's place of work, a Japanese-owned skyscraper which is still under construction by a very friendly limo driver (De'Voreaux White), who once worked as a taxi driver.
Not too long after "McClane" arrives to the building, meets his wife's boss and co-workers and has a continuing argument with his wife the building is taken over by a group of terrorists who take "Holly" (Bedelia) and her co-workers hostage. "McClane" is able to slip away as chaos ensues, and he is unable to contact the Los Angeles Police for help until he takes things into his own hands and is able to get a hold of one of their walkie-talkies and contacts the LAPD, who warns him to get off the frequency until shots are fired at McClane, and the cops send "Sergeant Al Powell" (Reginald Veljohnson), who is a few blocks down the road buying Twinkies for his pregnant wife.
Eventually, back-up arrives at the building as all hell breaks loose inside with "McClane" taking the terrorists out one-by-one as "Sgt. Powell" has to deal with inept superiors and, eventually FBI agents who happen to share a last name, but are unrelated.
No "McClane" has to save his wife, her co-workers and himself as the police work to fulfill the terrorists demands.
"Die Hard" is a strong action movie that gives you a little bit of time to catch a breather. All the action scenes, which is mostly gun battles, have lots of energy and are nicely filmed. You get some much-needed breaks when "McClane" is catching a much needed breather, or talking to "Powell".
There are some character development problems in this movie, especially with supporting characters. Another problem is that "Powell" and "McClane" are the only law enforcement characters in this film that are believable. All the others shouldn't even be carrying a badge. There are also some characters which have very little to do.
Except for during the action scenes, none of the scenes really stand out. The sets are quite boring and poorly lit, which is explained in the movie.
The script is well written, and makes a plot that is somewhat hard to believe really believable. I personally can't see one man taking on a group of terrorists by himself and being able to keep one step ahead of them.
Despite the forgettable flaws, this movie is a very good action movie that would be good as a first choice rental. It could also be a good addition to your movie collection.
a typical bruce willis, better action than speaking movie.
and his wife! no way would he fall for someone who looked like that!
I would say that this is Bruce willis's finest film, he played his role well along with the other actors, and i thought that the film had a very good plot so yea 5 stars
An awesome movie! Alan Rickman does a great job acting and portraying the villan Hans Gruber. I love ya Alan! ; )
One of the few celebrities I ever had a crush on. Great comedic actor now turned into a great action star. BOOM BOOM BOOM!!
One of the best action movies ever made. The plot is solid, the comedy is present, but the action kicks a$$!!! Bruce Willis does a great job in the role he was born to play and ends up pulling off a story many others couldn't.

20 years of exciting action and the birth of our favorite tough cop John McClane.Happy Birthday Die Hard.
I just recently watched the new film in the series of "Die Hard" and I have to say so far this film takes the cake. What a great cast this movie had and the character development was BELIEVEABLE. Alan Rickman has always been a terrific actor but I loved him as the head honcho bad guy. How can you not forget also Reginald VelJohnson who is a great comedian and will always be known for his role as Carl Winslow on "Family Matters". This movie started it all and boosted Bruce Willis into stardom. The movie itself will be forever a classic to me.
