| Death Race | This was a fun, all out action flick. If you saw the trailer you knew what you were in for. It was 1 hr. 29 min. of the same & that's not bad. Jason Statham, who has now become one of our biggest action stars, did what he does best which is kick ass & take names. For all the shit that director Paul W.S. Anderson seems to get, I still enjoy his movies. I liked Event Horizon, I liked Resident Evil & I even liked Aliens vs. Predator. It's not as if he's trying to go for an Oscar. | The Rocker | A very entertaining comedy, especially for the dry PG-13 comedies we've seen lately, much better than The Love Guru and not as flashy as Get Smart-more consistently funny than Drillbit Taylor and a little cooler than Baby Mama, The Rocker has a plot you could have guessed by watching the trailer, but it has a heart, like Fish, that even though it may get on your nerves sometimes (or drag in parts) it is hard to ignore the glow they give off. | Traitor | It had been all of one month since I watched a movie about terrorists. I had never even heard about this until yesterday and I thought it would be good Wednesday show. The movie plays Don Cheadle, one of the most underrated actors today as as Sudanese, disenfranchised lost soul. Not to spoil the party this evolves into a huge convoluted mess across continents, bad neighborhoods and stereotyping moslems using Fox News tactics. As the movie unwinds it gets a bit slow and there are too many implausible things happening; imagine a top FBI wanted man entering the US from a busy point in BC! I can't even get in. There is one excellent quality about this movie and it's the portrayal of a broken system of people acting based on not knowing why they do things. I don't know if I found it annoying because the audience once again in the theatre would not stop talking & laughing and repeating each funny line or because the acting at times was bad; but I don't know if it was supposed to be bad? The one hunched over gross man/woman person was just DISCUSTING, and for some reason the audience found every f'ing line she said funny. In my opinion whenever she talked, the movie lagged and i felt like, out of place. Which sounds weird, but the girl did not have a well done performance. So, Kelly Williams was in the movie right, MISTAKE! Why can't you just get somebody british instead of having her butcher a british accent.? And also, I understand 100% that the girls from the mansion from "The Girls Next Door" are not actresses, but Kendra Wilkinson was terrible. Anna Faris in my opinion was just so-so. She brought a nice innocence and like-ability to her character but I'm unsure if her acitng was bad at times, or was supposed to be so bad. The plot was something new, which was a nice change of pace for movies lately, and it had some pretty clever parts. It never really lost my attention, but I didn't find myself laughing very often. I took about, a whole star off for how $!@#& corny it was, it was just gross. And I'm just pointing this out but, when you watch the movie, when there's the scene where the girl with the Brace is talking about taking it off *tiny spoiler alert, miniscule* and Anna Faris unscrews it, and when shes running, it falls off. Where does it go? You see it landing on the sidewalk but then it shows the entire sidewalk many, many times. It's gone! The back brace is magically and can fly!
